My husband and I stayed at Crystal springs in the second house, second floor, second bedroom from the stairs. We stayed on September 6th, 2024, though we have stayed in that building for many consecutive years during the weekend of our family reunion. This time, I woke up around 3 AM feeling itchy. I lazily scratched my arm and went back to sleep only to wake up with my face itching. I still thought it was a mosquito because only what seemed to be sticking out of the covers way itchy. Finally around 3:20 I was so itchy that I went in search of something to apply to the bites because I couldn't sleep. I started putting the stuff on and it seemed like there were new bites appearing as I applied it. All together I had 50 or so strange bites - some large, some small. I put the medicine on and quietly crept back into bed, but just to be sure I kept my phone screen on to shed some light on the bed. Low and behold there were about 10 bed bugs of various sizes on my pillow. I immediately awakened my husband, and we continued inspecting and finding more bugs. We saw at least 30 of them, and didn't take time to inspect further. We used the facility's washer and dryer to wash our bedding and clothing. The next day, a member of our group spoke with the owner, and another member of our group spoke with the caretaker. Over the years, this is the third incident with bed bugs that we have had in this facility. They always say we are the only ones to complain and seem surprised. This time, the owner said they just had an exterminator out the week before and the exterminator had said there were no bed bug problems. We showed the owner the wind screen from the dryer, and there were four or five of the quarter inch sized bed bugs trapped in the dryer lint. Of note, the room where we had the bedbug incident is the same room where two other members of our group had a bed bug incident years prior, and was next door to a room that contained the bed bugs of the third incident. All together, I got over 87 bites and my husband got over 93.
