Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

I booked a stay with Clayton Hotel Plaza from July 21, 2024 to August 2, 2024 for a business trip. I noticed bites on my extremities starting 7/28/24. On 7/29/24, I received more bites on my feet and legs, notified the front desk staff of receiving bedbug bites from the bedding, and requested to be moved to another room (514). I found insect shells in the bedding as well as black droppings. The next day, I received new bites from an adjacent room (515), checked out of the hotel on 7/30/24, and requested and was verbally promised a refund for my stay and an official report of the incident from the front desk staff. Simultaneously, my co-worker on the third floor notified staff of receiving bites overnight, and was promised a full refund on 7/29/24. I have received no refunds for my early checkout, nor stay which was compromised by lack of hotel sanitation, and have received no compensation for the cost of exterminating my belongings and replacing my luggage. I have also not received any official report filed by the hotel of the incident nor any evaluation from local pest control confirming bed bugs or other pests in my hotel room or my coworker's. We all have eyewitness, text, and video testimony of the bedbug bites received during this process and documentation of the hotel management's lack of response. The bites have become inflamed and painful upon touch over the course of the next two weeks, and have just started to fade. Over the past week, I have called the front desk and manager four times to discuss compensation for the bedbug bites and refund for my stay, but have received no response from staff or follow-up despite leaving voice messages and notes each time. I have received no responses, no refunds, and no evidence that an extermination investigation was conducted nor that bed bugs were confirmed to not be found by any investigative source.

If you find bedbugs in your home you should remove as much clutter and as many items as possible from your house. Replace all bedding and examine the box spring for bedbugs.
