Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

On July 26, 2024, I went to check into a hotel that I have reserved for over a month. The hotel is The Shorehouse 12534 Ocean Gateway, Ocean City Maryland 21842. Room #216. I went to the room and did an inspection and found bed bugs, I put one of them into a piece of paper and took it to the front desk clerk as proof. She offered me a room change and I declined and wished to check out immediately. Another guess who had checked in the same day had a room on the opposite end of the hotel and they were on the first floor, their room was infested with bed bugs as well. I requested to be compensated for my full refund and the hotel declined and paid me back half of what I paid. I paid a total of $670.57 and they refunded me $364.23. I then had to pay another hotel, Paradise Plaza Inn and additional $917.96 so that I would have a place to during my birthday weekend, which was a big inconvenience for me.
