I should've known better before applying and moving into the property I currently rent. Less than 48 hours after we moved into the property we submitted complaints and reports of bedbug infestation and the horrible bites my children, husband and I received and the residential management company (progress residential PM) not only waited for too long to address the problem, but also tried to charge us $1,200 to solve the bedbug infestation when according to the rental property law, either the residential management or landlord are supposed to resolve such pest issue. Ever since we have been living in the property it has been a living hell. The bedbug bites persisted and intensified even after management finally sent a pest control company to treat the bedbug infestation. It didn't work at all. We filed complaints about the bedbugs with the residential management team several times and sent them pictures as evidence and they never contacted us to end the bedbug infestation in the property once and for all. So my children, husband and I have been sleeping in the living room since we moved in and found the bedbugs in the property 3/23/2021. With disappointment because of the bedbug infestation, we decided to look for employment outside of our area, my husband and I have not been employed as of our moving date. We have been paying rent and bills from our savings and my 401k from my previous job. So now that my husband finally has employment and because of the bedbug infestation, bites and marks that have left us all over our bodies, we have decided to terminate the lease and move on to our new home and start the new employment. The residential management company does not want to return the prorated month of September and our security deposit of $1,770. I suggest you read the reviews of the residential management company before applying for any of their properties. Take your hard earned money elsewhere. They don't care how my children were bitten by the bedbugs, they did not even apologize for not resolving the bedbug infestation problem, and now they want to charge us 2 months rent for breaking the lease because of the bedbug infestation and because my husband found new employment out of the area where we live. I'm going to seek compensation for all the damages they have caused my family by not resolving the problem with the bedbug infestation. The bedbug infestation persists, and we can't live in an unhealthy environment.
