June 27 2021. I initially sent a letter that our family had bed bug bites from our stay at the Deluxe Cabin L5. My 6 year old daughter suffered the most as bed bugs are most attracted to young girls and women. I also had to clear and clean my house and attend to my daughter without much sleep for the next few days because of the possibility a bed bug came with us. I bought cleaning supplies medication and bed bug mattress covers to be safe. My friends who saw me struggle told me I should notify them so that no-one else would have to deal with this and that I should ask for a refund. So I notified them so they could deal with it, asked for a refund and sent pictures. July 12, 2021 I got a call back 5 days after sending the email. The person that contacted me is the manager. He said he went up there and saw nothing and that there had been zero calls regarded bed bugs except me. He said that there is no way that what we had was bed bug bites. No matter what I told him he strongly disagreed. I told him it could take a few days for it to come up, which he said couldn’t be possible. I told him it could take up to 2 weeks for our body to respond. About the refund, he told me if it was about safety of other people that I am worried about, I shouldn’t be asking for anything. He said that giving me a refund would mean that they are accepting that they had bed bugs and that he is confident there isn’t any. I told him that he could believe whatever he wanted and I would do what I believed is right. He told me that he wanted me to be clear when I was leaving comments that I requested a refund. So here it is. Not believing and not accepting what our family went through and on top of that making me feel like I was going for the refund was the worst. After all that, the manager at least asked how my daughter was doing and said he was glad that she is better. It is true I am glad that we are better and see no signs of bedbugs at the moment. But I really liked and enjoyed this place. It was a place I would of gone back if they took responsibility and were more professional about it. If they had accepted what happened and put matters into their own hands I would have been able to trust them. Things like this happen in life and I believe its just how you address it. I wish it would have gone better. I like KOA and would like to go to a different one next time since I learned that they all have different owners and managers. Hope others won’t have to deal with what I had to go through. ( I now see as I am writing that someone mentioned bedbugs on the comment 4 days ago and feel bad for them as well)
