Stayed February 26-28 and noticed a couple of bites on my daughter after the first night but assumed it was mosquitoes then the next day, the 28th, once my daughter awoke she had been bitten all over her face and eye causing her left eye to be swollen shut. That’s when I immediately thought to look for bedbugs. As soon as pulled back the sheet on the bed I found one. Looked behind the mattress and found another large one. I then pulled back the other corner of the fitted sheet and found ANOTHER one. This one tried to crawl away to hide. I took pictures and video of each, and took it upon myself to zoom out and include video of the room and details such as the bedside phone which showed the name, address and even room number of the hotel, so that there would be no confusion over where the photos and video was actually taken just in case they denied the issue. I discreetly took the photos and video along with my daughter down to speak to the person behind the counter and I waited for customers to leave, as to not cause a scene, and I showed and explained and the man offered me another room. I politely declined as I was concerned that since they were in one room so clearly, that they may be in another. So I asked for a full refund instead. He said that he could do that since there was obvious proof and said that after we got our stuff out to come down and he’d call the manager and issue a refund. When I went in for refund I was only offered a refund for the current night (the night in which we hadn’t even stayed yet) and he said I’d have to sign the statement that HE wrote in at the bottom of the page stating that I was receiving a refund for the issue and that “I am okay with this”. I asked why I had to sign somethjng stating that since I clearly was not okay with it and also this was not a full refund. He then angrily told me if I didn’t sign that he would charge me for the full amount and that I could go. I tried to reason with him telling him that I just didn’t understand why not only was I not getting the full refund that he promised me but why I had to sign saying I’m okay with this before he would even refund my cancellation of the next night. He snatched the paper out of my hand and said if I don’t sign then I get nothing and told me to leave. I filed a claim with choice hotels and they also could not get me a refund as each hotel does their own thing so it was not up to them. Choice hotels emailed me and offered me 8,000 points to compensate me for the issue and told me that I needed to reply and accept the offer to receive the points. I didn’t reply because 8,000 points isn’t even enough to fund one free night at a hotel much less does it come close to compensation for the money that we were out for our stay there. Not to mention having to discard of our luggage and belongings due to possible infestation of everything and also get our vehicle treated in case we had been contaminated and carried any into the vehicle. I’ve never been treated so horribly by a hotel service. Especially after I tried to be understanding and keep things discreet instead of causing a scene and alarming the rest of the customers going in and out. I was under the assumption that they’d be willing to take care of the issue and refund me and appreciate my discretion and allow them to take care of the situation without losing more business. I was very wrong. They do not deserve the business they have. They will not accommodate uou if you are a victim to this. And trust me, as easily as I found the bedbugs upon looking....that means there is already a HUGE infestation as bedbugs generally hide well and are hard to locate even when being bitten. These were just out and living large. I can only imagine what their nest looked like and the number of rooms that are infested. Do not stay here.
