Hello, my name is Laura Wixted and me and my husband Joseph Wixted drove from Daytona Beach To arrive and check in at the Treasure Island Ocean Club 11500 Gulf Blvd Treasure Island, FL 33706 in unit # 4 for my 33rd birthday on 09/26/2020 at around 5:00 P.M. We brought our stuff in the room and left shortly to go to dinner. Came back to the hotel around 7:30 P.M. went out for a walk and came back to our room and fell a sleep shortly after, around 9:00 P.M. I woke up around 6:30 A.M. to find bed bugs in the sheets around me so I jumped up and told my husband who was in the bathroom at the time that I found bed bugs in the bed. He then came out and said he was going to the front desk. I then started to take pictures of the live bugs and blood stains on the bed before hurrying up to get my stuff together to get out of this infested room. My husband came back and said the guy at the front desk said to wait until 7:00 A.M. for the manager comes in. We then waited until 7:00 A.M. and went back together to inform the manager. I went in and told her the room has bed bugs and I want a refund. She said well hold on I just got here let me put my stuff away, I then said yeah well I just woke up to bed bugs in my bed. She came back out and said she will need to check the room and asked if we locked the room, I said yes its locked. At this point I started recorded the conversation. She went and checked the room and came back and said to close the room because of bed bugs. They then gave us a copy of a receipt stating we were not charged and we left and checked out at 7:15 A.M on 09/27/2020. We then came back to our room to where we left all our belongs and had to throw everything away including 3 pillows, all our clothes, bathing suits, shoes, my coach purse, hats and a soft Yeti cooler. Everything that cost around 5,000 all together. We put our money and keys in a plastic bag and left with just the clothes on our back. We got home and took showers and threw away our clothes that we came home in. I then started seeing all the bits I had all over my body and had my husband take pictures. I contacted my doctor and he said to come in to see him. I have close to one hundred bits and my husband has mild rash and itching. This happened on a Sunday so I will be calling the Heath Department in the morning of 09-28-2020. I have pictures and a recording of the manager saying to close the room. I am fully traumatized this was my birthday weekend and now I will not stay at another hotel after this.
