After 4 years of living in the same apartment, my fiance found bedbugs in her bedroom at Midtown Place. The apartment complex has been converted over this past year to airbnbs, so fewer than half on the residents are left. Recently, residents were notified that all were to be evicted by May to convert the entire place to airbnb. The bedbugs found on March 30, 2020 likely came from a nearby airbnb since my fiance has not traveled, the infestation was minor after searching and cleaning every item she owns, and she has not brought in any used items since she moved in 4 years ago. Upon notifying the management company, she carefully obeyed instructions to prepare for the pest management service, and just before the service arrived was told she would have to cover all the costs. Those costs would be $375 per treatment. Typically at least 3 treatments are required. The pest management service inspected only 1 vacant airbnb nearby for 4 minutes before treating her place. They concluded she was the source of the infestation, so she would be stuck with the bill. If bed bugs are found elsewhere, the owner would have to cover the costs. Because they choose not to search elsewhere, she will be blamed.
