We booked a 2 bedrm suite (rm. 316) from 7 - 11 Jan. 2020. My disabled Mom stayed in the room with the queen bed. We returned home 11 Jan. The bugs were noticed in her bed room on 18 Jan. I have never seen bed bugs before. My Husband contacted the Residence Inn by telephone (20 Jan.) to notify them of the situation. The representative said the room was checked before and after our stay and nothing was noted. My Husband stated that was the only place we stayed in and he doubted the bugs got in her suitcase on the plane. We contacted an exterminator to verify it was bed bugs. The exterminator verified the bed bugs on 29 Jan. and scheduled treatment for 3 Feb. My Mom was very upset and couldn't understand were they came from. The exterminator asked if we had traveled recently and if we stayed in a hotel, which we did. I contacted the Marriott Customer Care on 29 Jan. through their web-site to report the situation. Marriott responded by e-mail on 30 Jan. stating details were provided to the executive team at the hotel and I should receive a response in 3-5 business days to resolve this issue. I received a response from the Residence Inn by e-mail on 3 Feb. stating "we had our monthly bug inspection and preventative spray done a few days before your arrival, and we checked that room again after we received the case you filed. Fortunately we found no evidence of bed bugs in the room before or after your stay. And our property has no history of ever having bed bugs". Per the exterminator, it could take up to 30-days to completely eradicate bed bugs after a treatment and multiple treatments could be necessary. My Mom's condo was completely remodeled before she moved in just over 1 year ago. Her mattress, box spring, bedding and draperies were new. She was previously under the care of a home nurse and 24 hr. in-home care for several weeks and nothing was noted. My Mom stores her suitcase under her bed. The bugs were discovered 1 week after our stay at the Residence Inn.
