Between August 26 and August 29, 2019, three attendees of a convention were bitten overnight by bedbugs at the Chattanoogan Hotel. The hotel responded by moving them to another room, collecting all their clothes and belongings for laundering and/or decontamination. Another attendee who was not one of the three reported (with photos) that he returned home and within a week or two, his home was infested with bedbugs causing him to miss 2 weeks of work and bear the costs of ridding his dwelling of the infestation. The hotel responded with concern at the time of the incident and probably appropriately (I do not know the industry standards involving bedbug protocols) but the manager of the Chattanoogan has not returned several calls from this attendee who has missed work and bore costs from staying at this hotel. This attendee reported that one of the hotel staff he spoke with when trying to reach the manager admitted that the hotel had a bedbug problem. When speaking with a member of the hotel staff at the conclusion of our conference, she inadvertently revealed that two weeks prior to our conference the hotel's 4th and 5th floors had been closed down and allegedly professionally-treated for bedbug infestation - a fact that would have been useful before our members were victimized. Advising guests would have allowed them to visually inspect their bedding for signs of infestation before falling victim to these pests. It's a lovely hotel but I wouldn't stay out of concerns that the management has not effectively dealt with the problem nor has it been responsive to one attendee who suffered problems and expenses due to their stay in the Chattanoogan. They were aware of a problem, kept it to themselves and our members suffered as a consequence.

On November 20th bedbugs were found in room. Management took over an hour to get back to us, but they did provide us with another room.
