2AM July 11, 2019 First let me say my family of five, my brother in law's family and my in-laws have been camping at Twin Grove one long weekend out of the summer for over 5 years. Throw in two nieces and their significant others and their kids and its a 2 campsite three-cabin entourage. We have returned time again, we always have a good time...well that tradition has ended after this weekend. I would also like to state I understand bed bugs are a reality and it did not freak my family out, what did freak us out is the total and complete lack of empathy, compassion, education, customer service and understanding displayed by some individual named C who likes to be in charge. So...I'm gonna let fly now...we arrived in the later afternoon on Thursday, July 11th. After unpacking five people we enjoyed the evening and went to bed around 11 PM. At 12:30 AM my son came in with his pillow and what looked like two big ticks...no big deal right, out the window and back to sleep. Around 1 AM after repeated incidents it was apparent they were not ticks and the entire back room was crawling with bed bugs that were now on the inside of my kids clothing our luggage and had bitten my 11-year-old girl many, many times. We called the "emergency" number but no one answered. By 2:00 am we had changed clothes, inspected them and headed to a $150 hotel for the night with nothing but the clothes on our back, still no return call from the campground emergency number. There were two empty cabins beside ours that our party would be occupying the next day and we were hoping to move into them but no call back. In fact, it is only when I called them at 9 AM the next day they became aware of what happened. They then proceeded to basically act like they were doing us a favor by refunding our money (which they already had for a year) and giving us $15.00 and detergent for the coin-operated laundry machines open to the entire campground taking us all day Friday in the hot sun exposing our clothing and linen to the sunlight then washing it. There were no other cabins available so we cut our vacation short and spent 2x the money on an additional hotel stay so we could enjoy our family. Twin Grove would not even go as far as covering the difference in cost!! I called on Monday to vent but C was immediately on the defensive with no intent to please a long-standing customer, I guess they don't need the repeat business. Check out their website...RAPID...just a cutesy acronym. Good Sam will be hearing from me...
