July 2018 Mother swelled up with huge welts, couldn’t figure out why. My son slept with her & had rows of tiny bites. My dad laid down in the bed one night but never slept under covers and felt one crawling on him. It was a full grown adult. Staff came & found babies all in the box spring. They told us we had to leave all belongings there for a heat treatment. They had treated before, but had to find out from owner they only spot treated & this did not get rid of the issue. They heat treated but I don’t believe they did the whole condo. We were forced out & had to pay double to stay in another unit. They did wash all our clothes & bring our items to us, but we had to leave in hot sun anyways & throw out luggage & gifts just to be sure we didn’t take them home. It ruined our vacation & caused uproar within our family due to stress, yet Sunhost was horribly rude to us & would not give us another room since we dealt with & paid the owner even though they manage his unit, he refunded every penny, but thank goodness for credit cards because we didn’t get that money for a week & we’d have had to end our vacation & go home. Very poor customer service, but it’s a family favorite, so hopefully we can deal with another management company & stay in a different area in this location. The bugs were not the owners fault but housekeeping & supervisors need to be more diligent to this situation. My mother is severely allergic and thank God did not get any hives in her throat but she was in misery most of the vacation & probably will never return with us.

July 2019 Since the 80's, my family has rented a condo from Sunhost Resorts every 4th of July. Sometimes, we rent multiple times a year. This year for the 4th of July, I rented unit 212 at Beach Place Condos in Madeira Beach, FL. Although the aesthetics were nice, what happened to me was not. I went to bed on Thursday night and on Friday morning I was bitten up all over my back, arms and bikini area while sleeping in the master bedroom of this condo. Thereafter, I pulled up the covers to find blood on the sheet and what appeared to be bug feces under the mattress cover and on the mattress (see photos attached). Upon check out, I notified Sunhost Resorts and showed them the bites, at which time they treated me poorly and denied an issue. Afterwards, I emailed Sunhost Resorts the evidential pictures and after several emails back and forth with Rae Price, office manager, and then Tim Tolliver, operations manager, nothing was resolved. They deny an issue and refuse to make things right! Instead of trying to keep a loyal guest business, Sunhost Resorts has never acknowledged the bites, never offered an apology for the bites, nor did they make an offer of a refund to make up for receiving the bites in their unit. Unfortunately, Sunhost Resorts doesn't need, nor want my business, my families business, nor my friends business. I am forwarding my complaint to the The Florida Department of Health, The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and The Florida Department of Agriculture. Maybe something will be done then. In addition, I will notify the Beach Place Condominium Association, Inc. of an issue with pests in the condo, and of their registered agents/management company's inability to handle guests complaints satisfactory.
