Stayed over Christmas break 2018. Were given smaller room than we reserved, but it was quieter with views so took it without arguing though had to use pull-out sofa for two of us. Our first morning we awoke to bed bugs crawling around frantically on one side of bed sheets. Told front desk and asked for room of type we originally reserved, but were told none available and they would take care of bug situation "right away". Returned to hotel room several hours later with nothing done. Again went to front desk and demanded a new room comparable to our original reservation. Were given new room and told it was "an upgraded room". Room ended up being a downgrade from what we were given in the first place. Went back to front desk angry at this point and loudly announcing bed bug issue and poor treatment. Were quickly taken to speak to manager in private room. Manager was far more professional and, surprise!, put us in a room of the category that we had originally reserved. Checked mattress, etc. in that room and appeared to be bug-free. A day after arriving home, person on side of bed where bugs seen developed welts all over torso, on wrist, and on face. Very red and itchy. Luckily had left all luggage outside and ran all clothes in hot wash and high dryer. Hoping nothing we overlooked. Will never stay at Courtyard Marriott Manhattan Midtown East ever again. Advise others to stay away also!
