We booked our room, May 2019, through bookit.com and checked into room 210 at this newly renovated hotel. First we noticed the musty smell then seeing that the bathtub was cracked and repaired there was some uncleanliness to it. My teenage daughter and I travel a lot for softball and have stayed in some "crap hotels" before so we just figured well you get what you pay for. We did pull the covers back and did a quick check before our friends came on a late arrival time. We lounged around atop the covers until midnight or so. The girls went to bed ,and It did not take long for the chaos to begin - one girl felt something crawling on her back and we lifted her shirt and there was a giant bedbug. My daughter identified the "bed bug" as she googled images. As we pulled the covers back we found multiple large bed bugs. When we pulled the mattress away from the wall, the head of the bed had been infested with the nest of eggs. These were as big as a tick and evidently reproduces multiple times. We called the front desk - he said to gather our belongings quickly and he will accommodate us to another room. When we went down we were concerned about our personal blankets that were on the bed. He told us that they have very expensive equipment that they use to take care of bedbugs....NO WAY - this room 210 was a generational infestation! So I don't believe they treated room 210 recently. We asked for some sort of compensation for our distress and the clerk said he could only accommodate us to another room! The clerk allowed us to put our infested personal blankets into the hotel dryer. We asked him to go check out the new room 506 before we go. Since we paid through bookit.com we would have to talk to them about a refund. He told me that the manager, who will not be in until Monday, will not give a refund unless we choose to leave, (middle of the night) the policy is to keep accommodating guests to another room. We have pictures and video of moving infestation and they next day the welts came! I contacted bookit.com to see what I could do to get our money back and report the infestation of bedbugs. They contacted the hotel only to find out that the manager is unavailable until Monday so my case was sent to their claims department.
