Checked in on 7/28/2018. Ever since my daughter had been exposed a few years ago at church camp, we have inspected sheets and mattresses where ever we stay. We did this upon arrival and found nothing. My wife and I got up early to get ready before the kids woke. My wife went to go take a shower and came back out with an insect on a piece of toilet paper and asked me if it was what she thought it was. I told her it was indeed a bedbug. It was an adult close to 1/4" long. We placed it in one of the plastic cups at the hotel. We notified the front desk and they asked her to bring it down. This was Sunday morning and we were told there was not a manager on duty. They gave us a $10.00 credit on the room. Monday morning (7/30/2018) after arriving home, my wife called the hotel. They told her it was not a bed bug, but just a bug that resembled one. They said they had sent maintenance to the room and found nothing and proceeded to tell her they followed protocol and gave us 2500 point on our rewards membership. So in the mean time, we took precautions not to carry anything into our home. We removed all clothing, placing it into bags and went straight to the dryer with everything. We treated our luggage which will remain outside for an extended amount of time before we even think about taking it back into the house. It is really hard for me to believed that after close inspection and comparison to all the photos available online, they would try to say that it was not a bedbug. We don't travel much so the points are worthless and treatment on our belongings costs more than $10.00.
