8/13/2017 Upon arrival we were very pleased with our room(my husband, toddler, & myself). Hotel staff were friendly & helpful being as this was our first time traveling independently. After we settled in, I began to check the beds. On one of the beds I found tiny copper colored spots that appeared to be blood on the comforter & flat sheet. I immediately went to the front desk & they instantly came & changed them. We didn't notice anything else until later on in our trip. We decided to place our 2 year old son in the bed opposite of ours. Around 3 am he woke up screaming. When my husband picked him up we found 3 bugs underneath him. My husband smashed one causing a tiny blood spot. We then realized that this was the same spot we had found at the beginning of our trip. He then caught the other 2 bugs in a cup in which we took to the front desk. They placed us in another room for the night, of course it was impossible to sleep. We waited for the manager to come in later that morning. She offered me a 2 night refund because we had to move in the middle of the night. We were supposed to stay one more night but I felt so disgusting & unsafe I refused to stay. We ended up checking out as soon as we sanitized our belongings. I was under the impression that my son hadn't received any bites after thoroughly checking him over. Apperantly it can take up to 14 days for bites to appear on certain people. When we returned home the bites started to appear. He was covered on all of his extremeties leaving us as parents feeling helpless. After we reported the bed bugs to staff they became very secretive. We watched them go in & out of vacant rooms all day with their phones taking pictures & shining flashlights. My husband approached them in one of the rooms & asked if they had discovered more bugs. They acted like he was stupid & didn't know what he was talking about. They didn't inform the guests in the neighboring rooms. Which I thought should have been necessary. When I arrived home I instantly called hotels.com the sight I booked thru because the hotel manager told me that my refund would come thru them. Hotels.com staff told me the refund would actually be issued thru the hotel. When I told hotels.com what happened they instantly called the hotel & told them that I had pictures of the bugs. They immediately called offering me a full refund for my stay.
