8/3/2017 The Summit is a very nice hotel and perfectly situated in the Big Sky Resort right next to ski lifts and Base Camp. The family suites were spacious and clean, however, we were very startled to find that the master bedroom (kids slept on pullout and couch bed in large living room, which we later searched and did not find any bed bugs on those mattresses) had bed bugs in the mattress, box spring and along the floor boards. We'd never seen bed bugs before, so when we first saw one we just thought it was a small beetle of some sort. Then, on our last night there, we saw another one walking across the bed, then took down all the sheets and looked under the mattress at the box spring to find several more, dead and alive. We looked up bed bugs online to compare what we saw to bed bug pictures and confirmed that's what they were. We were mortified and called the front desk (at 10:00 at night) to inform them. They sent up a staff member who confirmed that they were bed bugs, and the overnight front desk staff apologized repeatedly and offered us a new room. The staff member who checked our room, said they had been a problem in the past. After packing up our entire room and moving the family to a new room, we, of course, checked the new room for bugs, and also found them in the master room of the new suite. We were beyond disappointed, and it was too late to go anywhere else, so we all slept on rollaway cots and a couch bed in the living room that night and checked out first thing in the morning. We were never offered any reimbursement. The staff did apologize numerous times, however. My husband happened to see a sticky note at the front desk that had our last name and "10% discount?" written on it. He asked if that was for us. The morning front desk clerk applied a 20% discount to our final night. They asked how the rest of our stay was, and my husband replied that we had a wonderful time and a great vacation...food was great, accommodations were great..until we discovered the bugs, the area (Big Sky, MT) was beautiful. It would've been a wonderful time had it not been ruined at the end by the bugs and the worry associated with taking any home with us (eggs in our clothes, bags, etc).
