To Whom It May Concern: This was in room 605. While your manager so kindly reminded me this morning that “every hotel has bed bugs or has dealt with them” I would not have expected to have this problem staying in downtown Chicago. And to make matters worse, he said it as if that somehow makes it okay or I should almost expect it? And let me just tell you I have NEVER see anything even close to what I saw on Saturday. I wouldn’t expect to find bed bugs especially not with the ratings and reviews for your property online or your prices. I would have never expected my trip to be cut short in the middle of night due to the infestation of our room. After having just arrived in Chicago that afternoon, I had to turn around and make the 4-5 hour drive back to Michigan on maybe 2 hours of sleep, as a female, in the middle of the night. Do you realize I could have chosen practically ANY other hotel? How upset would you have been if you were in my position? I’m sure you can understand how changing hotels at 2 am wasn’t practical and I did not have the money available to turn around and purchase another room for $200+ like I was paying you. The money was not released right away back to my card, and honestly, at that point I don’t know if I could’ve slept anywhere else. I also think it’s irresponsible to send us (and potentially bed bugs) to another hotel without our things being cleaned. Sadly, my only souvenir from our trip is the bug bite on my left hand, and paranoia that this will somehow spread to my house or my car, and how this is going to continue to cost me financially. In addition to having my trip ruined, I now get to pay to have my car cleaned, my clothes cleaned, and probably my apartment. I easily spent over $100 in gas for virtually no reason. I was already told I would not be reimbursed for any of these charges, which is also unfortunate considering my guest and I probably spent $80 at the bar between the two of us. We paid on our own cards instead of charging to the room or else I would’ve expected this refunded before we left as well. . No one on your staff knows what I went through to get to Chicago or how much money I put out in gas, tolls, etc, to only have maybe 12 hours in the city. I need someone on your staff to understand that just because I left without making a scene, I am not “fine” as I have been greatly inconvenienced and continue to be!
