Bedbug Reviews

Anonymous

I phoned the leasing office to have the uncomfortable conversation about finding bedbugs in my unit. I asked if any other tenants reported a bedbug issue and was told, "I can only see your account on the monitor." I replied that it was a rather serious subject and something that would stand out in memory. She "danced" around the question, never saying yes or no, and I took that as confirmation I wasn't alone. When discussing the plan for treatment, I was given a list of things to prep before the pest control company came and that I'd be contacted with a date to be ready because it also involves removing my pets for an afternoon. With no warning, the pest control company who is doing the monthly treatment for other pests (I've only seen two when I first moved in) says they're going to treat for bedbugs right then; with no prep done. So we agreed to treat my place the following afternoon. I did what was asked and left with my pets for the weekend and upon returning, it looked as it did when I left. No paperwork or list of stuff to keep it bug free; and no residue or odor. I put the laundered clothes, bedding and towels away after wiping everything with an antibacterial cleaner and for three days I was happy. I was watching TV as I saw another on the arm of my sofa and immediately took off the cushions and inspected pleats, zippers, tufts. I found 8 within 10 minutes. For three weeks I endured sleeping on the floor and constantly looking at everything around me for anything crawling. And after another week and a half, I phoned the pest control company to investigate. My unit had not been treated at all, but two others had. Which confirmed my hunch that others had reported it also. The leasing office didn't tell me that my place had not been treated and I doubt that they would have at all. And the reason I was given was because they didn't have entry to my place; which is ridiculous because they have before entered for the monthly treatment. No one said I had to be present and I can't understand why someone from the office couldn't have let them in considering it was during office hours and only about a mile away. I'm more upset that no one told me and I had to find out for myself nearly two weeks later. My place is finally getting treated this weekend but I have serious doubts that it will be successful as there are many units in here and openings along baseboards, walls, common ductwork and gaps under doors. This place has a history of bedbugs and it's unethical to move in tenants with an ongoing bedbug issue. Someone just moved in across the hall from me. I'm tempted to tell them to break their lease, but I won't.
