I was approved to lease an apartment at Peachtree Square Apartments. I came in on September 22, 2016, to sign my 12 month lease. The manager Toni Marlow informed me that the apartment I moved into was infested with roaches brought on by the previous tenant, and that she had to kick him out because of his uncleanliness. She failed to mention that the apartment was also infested with bed bugs. She told me in her very own exact words "That and oh by the way, we don't have bed bugs. That if you call us concerning bed bugs, you brought them with you, and we will charge you for removal of bed bugs." I found this very awkward of her to mention bed bugs out of the blue, but I thought no more of it being that I know I didn't and have never had bed bugs. So in good faith Toni Marlow and Peachtree Square Apartments allowed me to move in on October 29, 2016. They were very much so knowledgeable of a bed bug infestation of said apartment #2304, and the turnover time between the removal of the prior tenant and my move-in definitely wasn't enough time to have gotten rid of bed bugs. The neighbor below me also informed me that my apartment had a terrible bed bug problem, to the point where they even begin to invade her apartment. I noticed bumps began to form in clusters of 1 or 2 at a time on myself and my 12 year old daughter, beginning November 3, 2016. This has caused myself and my daughter deep anguish due to the fact the we have had to stay in a hotel over the weekend, which wasn't part of my monthly budget, and as of November 6, 2016 I'm not sure of what the outcome will be of our living arrangements. I am now homeless due to the fact that I can't go anywhere else because of fear that I may spread bed bugs to friends or family's dwellings. I am very depressed because this may bring about undue and unnecessary hardship on me financially. I am also worried that my daughter that has asthma could possibly have an episode and need treatment if this causes adverse reactions from being bit by the bed bugs. I am very embarrassed to even tell anyone that bed bugs are in my apartment amongst my belongings. I have never had bed bugs and feel as if I've been bamboozled into moving in to apartment 2304, because Ms. Marlow found it a priority to move me in that apartment so that they weren't responsible for the rent intstead of handling the more important issue at hand. She knew of the problem and didn't take necessary precautions to rid the apartment of bed bugs and nor did she give me the option of moving in after informing me of said apartment having bed bugs. She instead wanted to have me sign up front that the apartments was clear of bed bugs, on the same day that I signed my lease, before I even had the chance of entering the apartment. I chose to not comply with her and I marked the option to check the apartment and notify them of a bed bug infestation. This has caused me much pain and suffering due to that the fact that I take Revlimid (a chemo pill) which lowers my immune system and make me susceptible to become very sick and cause me to have secondary skin infection from the bites. My daughter and I have had difficulty sleeping because of the intense itching from the bug bites. I am requesting that a thorough investigation be conducted of said property Peachtree Square Apartments and it's manager Toni Marlow. Thanks, in advance. Sincerely, Telly L.
