This apartment complex was recently purchased by a new landlord (as of Summer 2016). The new landlord kept about half the tenants in our units and yet started active demolition (as in, tearing apart walls and floors) on half the other units in the building/complex. The demo crews are clearly very cheap labor and we have seen them lugging used, dirty mattresses in and out of the building and units as part of their demo tools. (Yes, they are using old mattresses as "demo tools.") Within 3 weeks of demo starting, our unit was infested with bedbugs. I myself am highly allergic and and suffered greatly as a result. The landlord responded only by allowing us to break our lease early and refunded our security deposit, but it is abundantly clear to us that he really doesn't care about treating or combating the actual bedbugs. Prior to the new landlord entering the picture, we had lived in this apartment for a year with zero problems. Since we highly doubt the landlord will in any way pay to treat this building, we strongly caution anyone who considers renting a unit here.....even after demolition and refurbishing have been completed.
