Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

I, my Significant other, and 3 small children arrived at the Merryton Inn around on 5/12/16. Address 5204 Monkhouse Drive Shreveport, LA 71109. We purchased a double nonsmoking room. The attendant took cash as she said the credit card machine was down. We paid $65 plus tax for the room. We stepped into the room where immediately it smelled horrible. There were squashed bugs in the entry to the room. When the refrigerator was opened there was mold and rust found inside. I lifted up the mattress and found black bugs crawling around. As we were discussing leaving cockroaches started crawling out on the night stand and walls. The carpet was stained and unvacuumed. There was thick dirt and dusts in the crease were the wall and floor met. This was absolutely unacceptable.
