I stayed at the Staybridge Suites on Augusta National Drive in Orlando, FL from March 20 to April 16 for work. The first three weeks of my stay was in room 239. I am a frequent traveler and know what to look for in regards to bed bugs. I inspected the room thoroughly and did see any indicators. I did not have any issues for three weeks. On April 11, I was moved to room 339. The move was due to renovation construction on the floor I was on. Before moving any of my belongings into the room, I inspected for bed bugs. Again, there were no indicators. On Wednesday, I noticed small bites on my arm. I spoke with the general manager regarding the bites. I requested that my bed linen be completely changed out. He stated he would personally inspect the room. At the time, he thought it was a rash and not a bite. As the week went on I would notice more bites. I inspected the room each day but found no indications of bed bugs. It wasn't until Saturday morning (April 16) that I discovered a bed bug. It was approximately 1am when I woke up as I was very uncomfortable. I inspected the bed AGAIN. I was this time I saw a bed bug on the box spring. I immediately notified the front desk. Two people came to the room and inspected the bed. One took a picture. I spent the rest of the night in the lobby with all my belonging until the 5am shuttle took me to the airport. The staff did show compassion and concern. I am being treated with several medications as I am experiencing a severe allergic reaction to the bites. I have multiple bites on both arms, neck, hands, face and lower back.
