My family and I recently stayed at the Nickelodeon Resort for 5 nights (December 25, 2015-December 31, 2015). Unfortunately, we acquired bed bugs from our hotel room which traveled back home with us via our luggage and infested our master bedroom. I contacted the hotel 15 times and explained our dilemma and told the management that I had proof of the infestation (everything from photos of the bed bug bites, to samples of the bed bugs, to bills from the exterminator). Management made it clear that they would not take accountability for the incident and insisted that our bed bugs probably came from our travel at the airport; although we drove to the Nickelodeon; we didn’t fly there. By the time we paid for bed bug treatments and purchased a new mattress, box springs, and bedding, we were out more than $2,000 from the bed bug infestation. This doesn’t include the stress of dealing with the infestation and the fact that we were out of our bedroom for 2 months. I’m in disbelief that the Nickelodeon hotel refused to take ownership of their hotel’s bed bug infestation. And, the only compensation offered to us by management was a discount to stay at the hotel again in the future, which I adamantly refused.
