My flight out of the Manchester Airport was cancelled on June 26, 2023 due to the weather. United Airlines shared a flyer with me with Holiday Inn Express information on it. I decided to give them a call and book with them. They were very accommodating and I asked for their "distressed" discount and was able to save $20 on the room. After spending an hour in the room, I found a large bed bug on their couch. Prior to finding the bed bug on the couch. I checked the mattress and headboards and found nothing. It wasn't until I was about to sit on the couch that I realized I hadn't check it, and then found the bed bug. I was too afraid of finding more if I continued to inspect the couch. My boyfriend and I immediately left the room (fortunately, we hadn't opened our suitcases or bags). We spoke with the front desk, informed them of what we found, showed them pictures, and asked for a refund. They asked if we wanted to be placed in a different room several times and I firmly declined and shared that bed bugs can very easily spread to other rooms and that I was no longer comfortable staying at their hotel. After 20 minutes, I was able to speak with the manager and confirm my refund.
