Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

My family and I spent one night at the Hilton Garden Inn in Denton, Texas. Unknown to us, we came home with bed bugs. We have spent hundreds of dollars on sprays and the infestation was so bad that we had to get rid of our furniture. We did not know for a month or two that we had them and then the infestation was so bad. We did not tell anyone at the hotel because we did not think that they would believe us.

We stayed at the hotel in adjoining rooms for two nights on June 10th and 11th 2021. On the morning of the 12th I saw a bug crawling on a canvas bag next to the bed (the bag was received that weekend at UNT, not brought from home). After further inspection it was a bed bug. We did lift the mattress cover and look underneath. We did not find any other evidence in the room. We reported to the front desk who said that there was not a manager on site on weekends and that they would call me on Monday. I had to call them. They said they did not find any evidence and were not sympathetic at all.
