11/02/2021 @ 11:30pm (Denver Time) I was laying on the bed with my wife barely getting settled in after she showered our toddler. We barely turned the lights off and still had the TV on and she was on her phone when she noticed something crawling on my pillow. She discovered it was a bug and told me to get up and then kill it. Upon further inspection with a brighter light it was, in fact a bedbug. So instead of killing it, we captured it in a cup for evidence. She immediately called the office and requested a different room. Most of our stuff was already packed and we had to get our son ready to move rooms. As we were getting ready, the night staff showed up and gave us a new key to room 214. We didn’t want to touch the bed or lift it for fear of further contamination. But the bed bug was fully grown or very near fully grown. It had not eaten yet because it was still a light brown color with only a little dark brown in it. We inspected ourselves and our son and found no bites. But we still placed our dirty laundry in bags. The only thing that touched the beds were our clothes, our sons blanket, and my wife’s purse. When the night staff arrived she had no idea how to handle the situation and said we would need to ask the manager what to do about our payment and the difference in the room. She said they can comp us to use the washing and drying facilities in the morning to wash our clothes. But we have to talk to the main manager about what is going on. We showed her the bedbug in the cup, after we took a picture of it and then gave it to her. She informed us to just leave the old keys in the room after we moved our stuff to the other room. We got settled by 12:05am and everyone fell asleep by 1:30am. And in the new room the bathroom trash was not emptied either.
