Date: Nov 6, 2017. When we entered room 305 around 11pm, a small insect scurried across the wall and another scurried under the bed. I caught the insect on the wall in a cup, and threw it out the front door. I did not know that it was a bed bug. In the morning, I woke to see an insect just like the ones the night before, next to my child who was asleep in the bed. This insect looked like the ones the night before, except that it was swollen and reddish. When I caught it in a tissue, it exploded bright red blood onto the bed sheet. I put the insect and tissue in a plastic container and informed hotel management. They were not surprised, but they were pleasant and helpful and moved us to an upgraded room, at a discounted price for our stay. I found out that Red Roof Inn does not change the bed spreads between successive guests. So guests are sleeping in a bed with clean sheets and a very used, possibly soiled, bed spread that many previous occupants of the room slept with. Hotel management told me to "document" the bed bug incident by speaking with their pest control tech who was scheduled to visit that day for the monthly pesticide treatments. I spoke with the pest control man, and he confirmed that these insects were bed bugs and that often a bed bug will explode if you grab it after it has just fed on someone's blood. Now I am very worried about the possibility of bringing these insects into my home upon my return!

BED BUGS!!! I was driving across the country looking for a reasonable place to stay for one night only. I didn't love the look of this place but it was late, we were tired and the price was right. It was Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at 9:00pm. My friend and I were given room 122 on the first floor in the front of the building. About 30 minutes after we arrived my friend changed into pajamas and got in her bed. Right up under her chin, on the seam of the comforter, she spotted the bug. It was very clear what it was. The flat little bug was slowly moving along the seem of her bed's comforter - totally gross. Alarmed, we packed up fast and scrambled out of there completely skeeved out and went to the office. The office attendant was outside smoking a cigarette. As soon as we walked up she stomped out her cigarette and asked if there was a problem with the room. I told her about the bed bug and she was completely unsurprised. She immediately issued a refund and printed out a receipt that said 'Refund due to bug issue.' She then advised us to go down the road a ways where "there were nicer places to stay. She handled it swiftly. We went to the Quality Inn nearby - the price to great and the room was nicer and cleaner.
