Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

My wife and myself checked in about 2 pm May 4th We rented a cabin and was given 56. We had plans that night so we did nothing more than walk into the cabin and check it out. Was sketchy enough we left our bags in our car. The cabin is older, not the cleanest. There are two bedrooms. We put our things in the first floor room and slept on the second floor loft area bed. When getting ready in the morning for breakfast I noticed bites on my wife’s leg. We had a short discussion and I thought I had been bite myself by mosquitoes. Than it hit us bed bugs. We stripped the bedding back and sure enough in about a minute we found a bed bug, took a video and photos. When checking out I explained to the clerk and also showed him the video and the photos. He explained they “had” issues in other units, that is a red flag!! They reimbursed the rental charge but after I had to throw away our luggage. Stop by a Walmart, get new clothes to wear and wash everything at the laundry mat. My guess is I am $200 dollars in the hole. Still have not drove my truck to give the sun time to kill off anything if it made it into the cab. We hope and pray we did not bring them home with us. Been itching and grossed out since then.

If you find bedbugs in your home you should remove as much clutter and as many items as possible from your house. Replace all bedding and examine the box spring for bedbugs.
