I stayed at Residence Inn Ann Arbor on 12/26/14 in room 1212. I slept on sofa bed and other family was in bedroom. I developed bed bug bites soon afterward. I am 100% sure my bedbug bites came from this hotel! I had doctor confirm the bites were bed bugs (after searching on line and discovering that's what they must be). I called hotel and they didn't call back for a week. I then called hotel again and they said they inspected the room and didn't find evidence of bed bugs. I informed them that I had sheets brought in because there were not any on sofa bed. I found pillows and blankets in the closet. I am assuming the bugs were in this extra linen or they just lied about finding no bed bug evidence. My relatives were not bitten in other room. I have not stayed in any other place except my home and this hotel in over six months(or more). Fearing a bed bug may have come home with me, I totally ripped apart all my linens etc once I discovered what the bites might be. I washed everything, looked for bugs myself, and then got my home inspected. The inspector found no evidence of bed bugs in my home and I was super relieved! I contacted hotel again and they had their insurance company call me. Liberty Mutual recorded my experience and evidence and said they would investigate. They came back with the same story about that room was inspected and they found no evidence of bed bugs. I want to push it further and will possibly do so. They probably count on people like me just giving up to avoid the hassle. If any one else reads this and believes they were bitten by bed bugs at this hotel I urge you to at least make a report with their insurance company (that part was relatively easy and very painless). If we have enough reports they may take us more seriously!
