Found bed bugs. Caught one alive in a plastic cup. Took it to the front desk and asked for a refund. Was told she was not able to do refund but would tell manager in the morning. Had to pack up at 11 pm and go find another hotel. Exhausted and itchy. Gross.

11/14/2022 around 10am Paid for hotel from Nov 10-Nov 16- traveling for work (third shifter) so spent most of time in hotel room sleeping. Got back from work on 14th and decided to turn lights on and watch tv. Little red bug scurried across pillow. Tried to catch in sandwich baggie but accidentally smashed. Pulled pillowcase back and found large bed bug. Caught in baggy and brought to front desk. Front desk lady offered to change rooms- no thank you. Then refunded my last two nights and addressed that she was basically doing me a favor because they have a 24 hour notice check out policy. And pointed out that I stayed four whole days and didn’t notice any bugs multiple times. Refused to refund full amount even though I brought bug to her in baggie. She stated that “they’ll call orkin to investigate” and it would take 10-15 days to complete investigation to decide if there was, and I quote, “just like one bed bug” and decide if they will refund me. The ignorance of staff almost as staggering as realizing I’ve been sleeping with bed bugs. Called Choice Hotels and the man informed me that it’s up to the hotel to refund me that they, ‘corporate’ have no say. Drove two hours to family’s, threw my suitcase out and spent all my ‘bedtime’ doing laundry to kill any stragglers that might have hung on.
