Stony Brook Motel - Franconia, NH Rooms 21 and 23 Stay 9/20-9/22/18 My family has been staying at the Stony Brook Motel for close to 40 years and have seen it consistently become more run down and less maintained. My elderly parents (in their 80s), my 24 yr old daughter, and I checked into the motel on 9/20. We were supposed to stay 3 nights, until 9/23. On 9/22, my mom noticed itchy bites all over her neck and arm and in a few other places. Her neck was particularly covered in clusters of bites. My daughter, who has some knowledge about bed bugs, pulled off all the bedding and examined the beds and found considerable evidence of bed bugs. We called the manager over and he denied anything, for quite a while, until my daughter was able to point out a LIVE BEDBUG near the head of the bed. When she squashed it, bright red blood stained the sheet. At that point the manager said he would look into it. Of course we had decided to flee the hotel a day early at this point. While he didn't charge us for that last day when we didn't stay there, he did not refund the previous two nights, or offer to pay for the laundering/remediation of our stuff. To add insult to injury, he posted a surly looking working by our door as we were packing the car and leaving, to insure that we wouldn't speak to any of the other guests. We examined the beds in both rooms. My daughter saw evidence in both rooms, but it was much worse in room 23 where my poor mom was. This hotel is not being well maintained in many ways, so I'm not surprised that they are not regularly checking for bedbugs. AVOID
