My family booked a room to stay in conjunction with a field hockey tournament. They checked in at the hotel late in the evening on February 17, 2022. Almost immediately upon entering the room a bedbug was seen crawling on the bed. Additional dead bugs were seen as well. The bedbug was placed into a cup, photographed, and the front desk was notified. The hotel staff kept the bug and stated they would try to accommodate my family in another room. Absolutely no way would I allow anyone to stay on that property after finding bedbugs. My family has to drive 15 miles to find another hotel which had rooms available. My daughter was supposed to stay in a different room at the Mainstay Suites of Lancaster County, but we would not allow it. I am not risking her bringing bedbugs back to my residence. We were lucky enough to have seen them before they got in our clothes or suitcases. Twelve hours after the incident and the manager still has not returned my telephone calls. I contacted the corporate office and they said the complaint was noted but only the local hotel can take any action. DO NOT STAY HERE!

This is an update of my report filed for February 17, 2022. Despite numerous attempts to speak with management, they will not return my telephone calls. I contacted the corporate office and they stated it was a local matter. No help there either. The receptionist at the hotel claims the room was checked and there were no bugs found. I am doubtful they even checked. Where there is one bed bug, there are many. I asked if they checked other rooms as well and she stated they will only check vacant rooms and there were no vacancies. We actually captured a live bed bug from the bed in Room 204 and gave it to the receptionist.
