Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

On September 16, 2022 I checked into Hampton Inn on Shirley drive in Jackson, MI with my five year old daughter. I was bitten that night and on September 17, I awoke with bites on my left shoulder, left elbow, and left first finger. I saw the bedbug when I moved my pillow and took photo and video evidence. I called the front desk and notified them. The front desk assistant came to my room, visibly saw and handled the bug, checked for more and asked if I wanted a refund or a new room. I told her a new room. My new room had visibly used sheets, I asked for the bedding to be replaced and left the facility to carry on with my agenda. When I returned that day to obtain a refund and check out to go to a different hotel, the front desk assistant stopped me and said the GM was compensating for my room. I asked her to come verify to the best of her knowledge, the absence of bed bugs in my new room. She did so. I asked to verify with the GM, that all three nights were compensated for. I have been verbally told by the General Manager, that the points have been added by himself and they would appear. I received 1000 points instead of 100,000 points compensation. My husband called and spoke with the assistant manager and while on the phone she asked a front desk assistant about my case. the front desk assistant stated she did not handle my stay however, she had a customer complaint of bed bugs the week of 09/24/2022. The hotel has a bed bug infestation.

How to get rid of Bedbugs at home

If you find bedbugs in your home you should remove as much clutter and as many items as possible from your house. Replace all bedding and examine the box spring for bedbugs.
