1. Arrived at 8:00 pm local time on 18 October, 2023. Departed 04:30 am for the airport via their hotel shuttle on 19 October, 2023. 2. I am a major airline pilot who was scheduled to fly the morning of October 19th out of Denver International Airport. As I checked out of the hotel and entered the hotel shuttle, I noticed my hands began to itch. This was very unusual, considering this has never happened prior. As the day progressed, my symptoms got worse. Red bumps began to appear on my hands, arms, arm pits, groin area, waist, back of my neck and head, ears, and legs. About 6 hours later, my body had an adverse reaction to the bites. My hands swelled to the point where I could not fully close them and hives began to appear all over my body. The pain, swelling, and itching became so bad I was unable to complete my scheduled trip. Once I was released from my flying obligations and arrived home, my wife drove me to the hospital that evening to treat my condition. It was confirmed by the medical staff that I had a severe allergic reaction to the bedbug bites and was treated with medication. I was bedridden for two days. When I called the hotel requesting to speak to the manager in order to inform her of what took place, she was unavailable. I left my name, number, and the reason for the call with hotel staff who I was speaking to. I never received a phone call back. I did a follow up call on October 22. The hotel staff insisted she received my message, however I never received a response. In all the years that I have been flying professionally, this is a first for me. I am taking the time to write this report because I do not want anyone else to go through the pain and misery that have gone through.
