Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

I stayed in room 402 from Sep 28-30. I took a nap on the couch at 7pm the evening of Sep 29, then got in bed sometime around midnight. I discovered the painful bites early yesterday morning and showed the receptionist at the front desk. She stated someone will be giving me a call, however after 24hour no one has. Detailed pictures of the bedbug bites can be provided upon request.

So disappointed in this hotel!! I recently stayed at Hampton Inn on Passiac Avenue. I checked in on 10/22. I woke up in the morning with 2 bites on my arm. With the general cleanliness of the hotel, I thought maybe they were spider bites and asked to have housekeeping change my sheets. But the next morning I had even more bites... it was bed bugs!! The bites were up my arms and along my face, and across the back of my neck. About 20 bites. I alerted the hotel and they immediately took action. They allowed me to wash my clothing and send some items to be dry cleaned. I had to throw away my suitcase and buy a new one. They moved me to another room, although I wanted to leave the hotel they would not refund my reservation so I had to stay while it was investigated. They represented that pest control would be there and I would know the result by 4:00pm. I had to cancel my business appointments to be back to the hotel by 4:00, at which point the manager left for the day in order to avoid seeing me. I asked about the room charges upon check out and was assured that the charges were pending on my card, but would I would not be charged until the investigation was done and I spoke with management. I began to have some swelling and other allergic reaction to the bites so I took some Benadryl and went to sleep. I've checked out and they have indeed charged my card for the stay and will not return my calls or speak with me regarding the matter. I've left messages and called multiple times. Since arriving home I've seen my physician and he confirmed that these are bed bug bites. Bed Bugs are frustrating enough, but how the hotel has handled the problem is unacceptable. With many options to choose from, I'd skip this hotel and save yourself from the frustration and itching.

If you find bedbugs in your home you should remove as much clutter and as many items as possible from your house. Replace all bedding and examine the box spring for bedbugs.
