I checked into Room 419 of the Howard Johnson San Diego on the evening of January 16, 2015. My husband put our bags in the room, went out to dinner and when we returned noticed several bed bugs crawling on the pillows and headboard. They typically don\'t come out until its dark and a body is in the bed, so the fact that they were so active led me to believe there must be a MAJOR problem in this room and probably the entire hotel. We immediately gathered our things, asked for and received a full refund from the (largely silent) night manager, and found ourselves without a hotel room at 11:00 p.m. Beyond the bed bugs the room was just filthy. I reserved this hotel on Booking.com and can\'t believe that booking sites are attaching their good names to this dump. DON\'T STAY HERE!

My boyfriend and I stayed here with another couple for 3 nights and the first morning we woke up and my boyfriend was the first to have found the bites. I didn\'t think anything of it and then by the evening time I noticed some on myself but still slept in the same room again... BIG MISTAKE!!!! We all woke up the next morning and there was about 30 bites all over each of our bodies. We went to the front desk and all the guy did was change our room, and offer a 15% discount....saying they have never had a problem with this before. But since we paid through booking.com, he couldn\'t apply the discount himself, we had to call booking.com and then they would have to approve it. So we got in our new room and ended up sleeping in there and woke up the next morning and all of us once again had bites all over us. This is such a burden they are so itchy and we had to clean all of our stuff and whatnot. This place is disgusting!!!!!! Do not stay here they have filthy old carpets and I could only imagine that ALL, yes ALL OF THEIR ROOMS HAVE BED BUGS. GROSS!!!!!! They\'re gonna hear it from me let me tell you.
