Check-in: Date: 12/30/2022 Time: 2:35am Room cost: $77.26 Checkout: Date: 12/30/2022 Time: 5:36am Upon entering the hotel it smelled of cigarettes, even though it is noted to be a smoke-free facility, and did not smell clean. The staff did not answer the phone provided for services. Checked into the hotel after a very late work shift, and requested to stay just for the night. Settled in and laid down for sleep at 3:00am Woke up exactly 2 hours later to pain and itching in my face, at which point I tried to return to sleep, but could not due to incurring more stings and itching from bugs biting. At 5:15am I used the facility's shower and packed up my belongings. I waited at the front desk for the manager to arrive after several phone calls. Upon arriving to the front desk, the manager met me with hostility and defensiveness. I explained to her that I was bitten by bedbugs and she told me that I am having a reaction to something else, and it has nothing to do with the hotel. She then proceeded to tell me that she was going to charge me $400 for her to call pest control. I told her that she has a legal obligation to maintain bug free facilities and I will not being paying pest control fees. She was very rude and condescending throughout the entire conversation. When I asked for a refund she said she will call pest control, if there are bugs, I will not be charged. It there are no bugs I would then be charged for the room along with a $400 fee. I asked her to put in writing what she explained to me, and she did, but did not sign or date it. When I asked her to do so she told me that I must not have a brain in my head and refused to sign the document. I then left around 6:12am after the prolonged conversation. I received a call from her at 1:41pm, which I missed, and call her back at 3:36pm. Over the phone she told me that she had all her house keepers and staff inspect the room with a black light, and there was no sign of bugs. She proceeded to tell me that they know better than I do and that I was wrong and would be charged. They did not call a health inspector or pest control, and have charged over $300 to my card. In the following days I was forced to miss two work shifts to deal with having expensive belongings cleaned and sanitized, as well as taking care of a severe allergic reaction from the bugs bites.
