April 28th, 2024—Room #1204: After a long day at a business conference in the hotel, I was sleeping on top of the covers and decided around 1:00 a.m. (4/29/24) to slip underneath the covers and rest my head on the pillows. After about 30 minutes of sleep, I woke up noticing itching on my neck. Continuing to scratch, I decided to get out of bed and look in the mirror after feeling two large bumps on my neck. There were indeed two immediate red bumps. I then began to pull back all sheets and trace along side the seams of the bed, after a few mins I did not notice any marks or indications of a bedbug, however, just before I got back in the bed I lifted the pillow, which had a fast running, but CLEARLY visible bedbug. I went to the front desk and spoke with the assistant manager, who said she was filling in for someone who had called out of work but agreed to come to the room to investigate and help me carry my items to a different room (2:30 am). The manager came into the room and saw the same bedbug I identified, now crawling again. The woman then grabbed a cup to trap it so that her staff could take it and examine it, however, right as I told her to be careful not to smoosh it (due to their blood filled bellies, she accidently squashed it and smeared the blood on the bedding. She took my contact information and stated, "The hotel never has bedbugs," and that they would call pest control the next day. In the morning, I was never contacted by staff, so as I was checking out, I let the person at the desk know what happened, showed them the video, and my neck, which was excruciatingly itchy. The front desk personnel again took down my contact information and member ID, stating she would speak with the regional manager to give me a one-night stay credit at any location (since my company had paid for the hotel stay ). Just before leaving, the front desk person confirmed she had spoken to the regional and that in 2-3 business days, I would see a points credit on my account. It has now been 8 business days, and I have not been contacted nor received the credit as agreed. When I returned home, I had to take care of all my clothes and luggage and go to urgent care for prescription ointment.
