Recommended tips after hotel check-in:
1. Pick up the mattresses in the rooms and look under it. Check around the edges of the box springs.
2. Check under the box spring.
3. Lift up each headboard an lay it on the bed. Carefully inspect the hole where the headboard was lifted out of. Also, inspect all niches and corners of the headboard.
4. If you decide to stay in the hotel, do not put any clothes in dressers. Keep them in your luggage and your dirty clothes in plastic bags.

Stayed with my family Jan. 14-18, 2016. Found live bed bug on the bed. Took it in a plastic bag to hotel front desk. All staff referred to it as a \"pest report\" until Terminix inspector confirmed that it was a bed bug. They claimed to have inspected the room and it was found to be \"negative for pest activity\". Yet their solution was to pick up all of our items from the floor and wash them without our knowledge and move them to another room while we were away that day. The staff did not communicate between shifts, they implied that we were liars, they were not helpful or sympathetic to the problem. In addition, at least two of our personal items were lost during the unauthorized room move. I\'m leaving out some of the details but in short, they were not alarmed, concerned, courteous or helpful about the problems this created for us while we were at the hotel and as we returned home. We will not stay Double Tree again.
