On June 16, 2023 I had several phone calls with a man who identified as the hotel GM of the Courtyard By Marriott located in Willoughby, Ohio at 35103 Maplegrove Road, to notify him of bed bugs in room 313 when I stayed in that room on June 15, 2023. After I took video and pics of the bed bugs I left the hotel at 2am and sent the evidence to him via email. He never assured me of any follow up that was being done with that room and refused to offer me a full refund for the inconvenience it caused me. He seemed completely unaware that the hotel is legally required to have a pest professional inspect the room as soon as possible after I sent in evidence. The manager also has to share the results with me providing me with a copy of the report. Guests are entitled to know whether or not the pest professional found an infestation. Since, I don’t believe the GM is taking this matter seriously I have taken it upon myself to report the hotel to the state. I notified the Ohio EPA and reported the incident with the State Pesticide Regulatory Agency. They will be contacting you. Additionally, I filed a complaint with the hotel’s corporate headquarters. They also will be involved. I also reported the hotel to online consumer hotel registries to inform the general public. This is now a public health issue. They will be determining if the hotel has allowed other guests to stay in that room after I reported the incident, knowingly putting them in danger. Lastly, I’m taking legal action because I believe the hotel was negligent after failed to rectify the situation in a timely fashion.
